Lviv has developed a free app called Kolyada, where you can find the lyrics and music of your favorite carols, as well as try on virtual masks of nativity scene characters.
The application allows you to get acquainted and immerse yourself in a part of the ancient Ukrainian culture of Christmas celebration and the songs that accompany it.
In the app, you can listen to performances of various carols. It contains famous Christian and ancient folk carols from Lviv, Zakarpattia, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions.
The Lviv National Academic Men’s Choir Dudaryk, the municipal choir Gomin, and the choir of the Lviv Children’s Art School No. 5 joined in the recording of the carols.
The app also has an augmented reality feature. Users can try on a Christmas mask of an angel, a shepherd, a king, and other characters from the Ukrainian nativity scene. They can also record their own performance of a carol, save the video, and share it with friends.
The app was created as part of social initiatives by Tsukat Studio in partnership with the Department of Tourism and Culture of Lviv City Council.
You can download it from the App Store and Play Market.
