US President Donald Trump said that the US, Ukraine, and Russia had allegedly defined the preliminary terms of an agreement to end the war. He also emphasized the need for further support for Ukraine. According to Trump, a truce could be reached very soon.
“We are going to get a full ceasefire soon, and then we will have an agreement. Negotiations are underway on the distribution of land and so on. As we speak, it’s being discussed,” Trump said.
According to Bloomberg, the White House is still aiming for a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine by April 20. But the schedule could be changed “given the wide differences between the two sides’ positions.” The US State Department also said that Ukraine and Russia are “one step away from a full ceasefire.”
“After that, we can start talking not just about peace for a week or six months, but about a lasting peace that the people of Ukraine, Russia and the world can rely on,” said State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
