The volume of new housing construction in Ukraine decreased by 40% over the year.

According to the State Statistics Service, the total area of residential buildings for which construction permits were issued in 2023 decreased by 37% compared to 2022 and amounted to 4.2 million square meters (67,000 new apartments).

In Kyiv, the volume of new construction decreased by 66% compared to 2022 and amounted to 299,400 square meters, and in Kyiv region by 67%, to 616,100 square meters. In Lviv region, the figure decreased by 14% to 870,300 square meters, and in Khmelnytsky region by 5.3% to 313,100 square meters.

On the other hand, in Ivano-Frankivsk region, the volume of new construction increased by 130% to 469,000 square meters. Significant growth was also recorded in Chernivtsi (+275.4%, to 225,400 square meters), Zakarpattia (+79.3%, 256,000), and Vinnytsia (+77.4%, 230,600).

In other regions, the volume of new construction decreased and amounted to less than 200,000 square meters.
