Sofiya Kyyivsʹka Launches Sale of Collectible Banknotes Depicting the Golden Gate

Zero Euro collectible banknotes with the image of the Golden Gate were issued in France.

On January 13, the St. Sophia of Kyiv National Conservation Area starts selling new zero-euro collector’s notes featuring the eleventh-century architectural monument, the Golden Gate.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

“A limited collection of euro banknotes depicting the Golden Gate, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the greatest monuments of the Ukrainian people, was made in France. The souvenir banknotes have a purple hue, they look like 500 euro notes, and their size is the same as 20 euros,” the statement said.

It is symbolic that in the thirteenth century, the Golden Gate was one of the bastions that stood in the way of the Mongol-Tatar invasion, thus protecting European countries from it. It is noteworthy that the new Euro note was issued shortly after the peace note in Ukraine was issued.
The aim of the project is to popularize the most important cultural and historical monuments, as well as to promote the preservation and material support of European cultural heritage.
